How doses remaining are counted
doses in a vial = vial amount ÷ dose · doses left = doses in a vial − doses taken
This is deliberately simple arithmetic on the vial's labeled content, and it
assumes every draw is the dose you entered. It does not model the small amount
left in the hub and needle after the last full draw, so the final partial dose
on any vial is usually a little short of what the count implies. Treat the last
dose as the one to verify rather than the one to trust.
What the 28-day beyond-use date actually means
Twenty-eight days is the USP convention for a multi-dose vial preserved
with bacteriostatic water, and it is a sterility convention. It is an
answer to "how long can this be punctured repeatedly and still be considered
safe to inject", not "how long does the peptide keep working". Those are
different questions with different evidence behind them.
Our own 120-day
bacteriostatic water study found the preservative itself outlasts that
window comfortably. Peptide stability is a separate matter: it is
compound-specific, depends heavily on temperature and light, and for most of the
research compounds it is simply unstudied. That is why the beyond-use field is
editable rather than fixed, and why this page reports the date you set instead of
asserting one.
Why it recommends finishing one vial before opening another
The ranking is by what is actually at risk of being wasted. Vials are sorted by
how much dating is left, and where two are equally urgent, the one with more
doses still in it comes first, because that is the one that wastes more. Sealed
vials are never recommended: opening a second vial while a dated one is still
usable is the specific mistake this page exists to catch.
IU vials and mass vials do not mix
If a vial is measured in IU and you enter a dose in mg, this page refuses to
count doses rather than guessing. An International Unit is defined per substance
by biological assay, so there is no conversion between an IU vial and a
milligram dose. The unit
